Credit Scores and Reports: Beyond Equifax, TransUnion and Experian

Most American consumers are familiar with the three most common reporting agencies, Equifax, TransUnion and Experian.  If you missed my post on this topic click HERE to learn more.

But did you know they are not the only companies collecting your information?  As a consumer you have the right to know which companies are gathering, and what information.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has some great information for consumers that will help us learn more about what companies may gather information and when to check these reports. There are also resources to help consumers take action, such as submitting a request to fix an error, if necessary.

To learn more about who can see your consumer reports, visit the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau page found HERE.

You can find a list of consumer reporting companies on the CFPB website HERE.

My goal is to break it down over the next few weeks and highlight information and resources from this site that consumers may not be aware of.  I will provide links and tips that will be helpful and insightful.  The more aware we are as consumers, the easier it will be for us to identify possible fraud or errors in reporting, and get the information corrected.

As a Personal Financial Coach, I help people better understand their credit as well as create a money plan and set goals. I am available in person, or by phone or zoom. If you’d like to meet,
